BIOGRAPHY
Jo Sheppard has been a member of CFUW Cornwall and District club since 2016. New to
Cornwall at the time, Jo was delighted to be invited to join an active, engaged and interesting
group of women. Involvement with the Cornwall and District club gradually grew over time. Jo
belongs to the Book club and the Outdoor/Excursion group. Participating in the annual
Resolution meetings is another highlight for Jo.
Serving on the Scholarship, Programme and Media Liaison Committees provided the
opportunity to understand the role CFUW plays within our communities, advocacy for the
vulnerable and the importance of supporting young women in the pursuit of post-secondary
education. Jo served as Vice President of her club in 2021-2022, President in 2022-2024, Chair
of the Media Liaison Committees since 2021 and is the current Chair of the Programme
Committee.
Throughout the past six years, Jo has been involved at the provincial and national levels of
CFUW by attending in-person and virtual AGM’s, workshops, speakers’ sessions, and
committee meetings. Life-long learning continues and is one of the key benefits of being an
active CFUW member.
One of Jo’s personal goals for her club over the past five years was to expand the profile of
CFUW Cornwall and District throughout the communities in the District. This has involved
developing collaborative relationships with other groups and organizations that support and
share the goals of CFUW. Collaboration and communication are key to success within CFUW at
all levels.
