BIOGRAPHY
I have been a CFUW member for 16 years, currently serving as Past-President of the Aurora/Newmarket Club, with extensive community involvement including our Home and Garden Tour enabling significant funding for post-secondary scholarships.
I am Chair of CFUW Charitable Trust, which supports women pursuing post-graduate studies across our country through annual awards of over $80,000. Before my election as Ontario Council Advocacy Chair in 2024, I was CFUW National Vice President of Education for four years and previously Ontario Council Education Chair for six years.
For 40 plus years I worked in the Education sector as a teacher in elementary and secondary panels, Department Head, Special Education Administrator and Principal, and post-retirement as Faculty Advisor for student teachers at York University and Ontario Tech University. I have also been very engaged in later-life learning as a Board member of Third Age Learning York Region, a non-profit organization created to provide speaker presentations on a variety of topics for senior adults in our community.
The Advocacy committee addresses issues of current concern to Ontario CFUW clubs and members, facilitates life-long learning, and works to improve public policy. Working together we can have an impact and be catalysts for extraordinary achievements in social justice, education, human rights, and the environment.
