BIOGRAPHY
Growing up in Dog Pound, Alberta as the postmaster’s and storekeeper’s daughter, I was happy
to wander in the valley of the Blackfoot hunters who named the place after sound of their
hunting dogs feet on the hard winter ice.
I attended University of Calgary, hoping to become a doctor, obtained a BSc (Hon) in Animal
Physiology and went to SAIT to become a Respiratory Technologist, practicing at Foothills
Hospital as a Clinical Instructor. Then I took a dare and applied to become a Park Interpreter at
Elk Island National Park, which began my 30 year career Parks Canada career. I moved
around the Parks Canada system during that 30 years, in all provinces and territories, working
with many colleagues in cooperative activities, volunteer management, non-profit partnership
arrangements, environmental citizenship, historic site management and public outreach
education.
Retiring in 2012, I began to volunteer full time with organizations that sparked my interests:
Open Arms Patient Advocacy as the Advocacy Coordinator first and later with CFUW
Lethbridge where I served on their board briefly and then got involved nationally on committees
and the national board as VP Advocacy. I have a small business, Bold Change Coaching,
which has been dormant during my volunteer time with the National board and may remain until
some future time.
Recently I moved to Tobermory Ontario, maintaining my CFUW membership in Lethbridge and
dual memberships in local clubs in Southport and Owen Sound.
